Project Manager

Neptune is seeking a Project Manager with extensive experience managing complex environmental projects to join our team in either Los Alamos, New Mexico or Lakewood, Colorado. You will work with experts in groundwater modeling, statistics, data science, risk assessment, and high-performance computing on environmental projects. You will manage projects, starting with one focused on a complex groundwater contamination staffed by a team of about 25 incredible staff working part- to full-time on your projects.

Working with regulatory agencies and responsible parties, you will have an opportunity to apply your project management and environmental science skills while expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Experience managing large, complex environmental/groundwater contamination projects

  • Ability to connect with people across a range of disciplines and experiences

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to think critically about workflow and task sequencing

  • Experience with conceptual model development of complex environmental problems

  • Experience with numerical modeling of environmental projects

  • Communication, both verbal and written, of technical content for other experts and in a way that is accessible to non-science stakeholders, regulators, and clients

  • Be intellectually curious and ask critical questions to ensure a complete understanding of the decision context before and during development of a quantitative approach

  • Be thoughtful and meticulous with a strong commitment to workflow documentation to ensure analyses are transparent, reproducible and hence defensible

Education

Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a scientific discipline such as engineering, math, hydrology, or geology preferred, but not required, depending on experience. Project management credentials also preferred.

  • Ability to manage project staff and resources in order to produce high-quality deliverables on time and within budget

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams

  • Ability to clearly present complex project information to scientific, regulatory, and public audiences
