Mr. McDermott is an Ecologist/Ecological Risk Assessor with Neptune and Company, Inc. and has 18 years of experience with a primary focus in providing support to help government and private clients assess and model environmental problems. Mr. McDermott has served as lead ecological risk assessor at numerous sites where the primary focus has been contaminated sediments, including a watershed level investigation of sediments in the Potomac River and its tributaries adjacent to Quantico Marine Corps Base in VA, and investigation of contaminated sediments in the Thames River adjacent to Naval Submarine Base New London in Connecticut. As a risk assessor, Mr. McDermott routinely facilitates clients in the application and effective use of EPA’s systematic planning process, the data quality objectives process. Greg’s recent efforts have focused on the development of risk-based cleanup goals and identification of remedial footprints for areas with sediments contaminated with DDT, PCBs, and heavy metals. Greg has provided professional reviews of ecological risk assessments, data quality objectives, remedial investigations, and work plans implemented at major Navy installations across the country, including California, Virginia, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Maine.
